Power Outage Disrupts Cambridgeshire Residents' Lives
An unexpected power outage has caused significant disruption for residents across Cambridgeshire, affecting both urban and rural areas. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, leaving many without electricity.
In the village of Over, as well as nearby Willingham, and the area of Werrington in Peterborough, residents experienced a sudden power cut. This outage also impacted homes in the village of Over and Willingham, as well as areas south of Earith.
UK Power Networks, the responsible utility company, was promptly notified of the issue just before 6:00 PM GMT. They confirmed that engineers were dispatched to the scene to address a fault in the electrical equipment that supplies power to the affected homes. The company estimated that power restoration would be completed by 10:30 PM GMT.
However, a separate power outage affected dozens of homes across three specific postcodes in Cambridgeshire. UK Power Networks took immediate action, prioritizing public safety by temporarily switching off power to 22 properties as a precautionary measure. The company apologized for the inconvenience but did not provide an estimated time for power restoration.
