Nestled in the vibrant city of Chongqing, China, the café is a response to the unique interplay between nature and infrastructure. With its complex topography, Chongqing is a city of mountains and water, where elevated roads and steep terrain create a dynamic urban environment.
But here's where it gets intriguing... The Luxi Lake Café is more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee. It's an architectural intervention, a thoughtful addition to the city's landscape that bridges the gap between urban life and natural geography.
Led by the visionary architect Zhuoxin Fang, the design team, including Qianqian Xu, Xiujing Yin, Buwei Wu, and Yuxuan Zhang, crafted a space that is both light and restrained. The café's design is a delicate balance, responding to its surroundings with sensitivity and creativity.
And this is the part most people miss... The project's engineering and landscape architecture, handled by UDG and WTD respectively, showcase the importance of collaboration in creating a harmonious environment.
With an area of 200 square meters, the café was completed in 2025, adding a new layer to Chongqing's urban fabric.
