Get ready to slurp up some seriously delicious ramen because Jinya Ramen Bar has finally arrived in Lake Grove, and it’s already creating a buzz! But here’s where it gets exciting: this isn’t just any ramen spot—it’s the first New York location for the beloved chain, known for its rich, simmered broths that have fans raving nationwide. Located just steps away from Long Island’s iconic Wegmans on Middle Country Road, this sit-down eatery is poised to become a go-to destination for noodle lovers.
Founded in 2010 by Tomo Takahashi, Jinya Ramen Bar has expanded to over 75 locations across the country, and now, thanks to Doherty Enterprises, Long Island gets a taste of the action. Doherty, which operates 158 restaurants in the tristate area (think Applebee’s, Panera Bread, and Wendy’s), is behind this sleek 5,000-square-foot space that seats about 175 people. And this is the part most people miss: the decor is as impressive as the food, with a backlit black marble bar, faux greenery, and a neon sign declaring, 'Ramen is all the craze.' Don’t miss the stunning anime-style mural of a woman savoring her bowl—it’s Instagram gold! Plus, there’s an outdoor area with a glossy black stone fire pit, perfect for cooler evenings.
Now, let’s talk menu. The star of the show is the tonkotsu ramen ($22), a hearty bowl of pork broth, pork chashu, green onion, spinach, a seasoned egg, and nori seaweed, served with extra-thick noodles. Pro tip: try the red and black versions for an extra kick of spice. But here’s where it gets controversial: the birria ramen ($22) is a must-try, blending spiced beef and chicken broth with birria, red and green onion, cilantro, and lime. The broth is so rich, it’s like eating a taco in soup form—a bold claim, but one bite and you’ll see why it’s a fan favorite. Beyond ramen, there’s a selection of Japanese small plates priced $5-$12, including edamame and steamed buns stuffed with pork chashu.
Thirsty? The drink menu is just as impressive, with mocktails like the J. Girl ($8), a refreshing mix of blood orange, strawberry, grapefruit, mint, and sparkling water. For something fizzy, try the Ramune Japanese soda ($4). If you’re in the mood for something stronger, the smoky Wokashi old-fashioned ($16) and a variety of Japanese whiskeys are waiting at the bar.
So, why Lake Grove? According to CEO Timothy Doherty, it’s all about the 'strong' market and central location near Smith Haven Mall. And this is just the beginning—a Massapequa location is set to open later this year, with two more planned for 2027. But here’s the question: will Jinya Ramen Bar live up to the hype, or is it just another trendy spot? Let us know what you think in the comments!
