A power outage has left hundreds of homes in the dark, causing an unexpected inconvenience for residents in Norfolk. This issue has sparked curiosity and concern among the affected communities.
The power cuts have impacted two distinct areas: one just west of Dereham and the other encompassing Cawston and Reepham. UK Power Networks, the responsible entity, attributes the outage to issues with their overhead network.
In the Dereham area, the power disruption was first reported at 6:32 pm, affecting a significant number of 2,053 homes. While engineers have successfully restored power to most homes, 534 households remain without electricity. UK Power Networks has assured residents that their control room engineers are working remotely to divert power, and power may be restored at any moment. However, they also acknowledge that not everyone can be restored this way, hence the need for on-site staff to check equipment. Power is expected to be fully restored between 9 and 10 pm tonight.
Similarly, in the Reepham and Cawston area, the power cut was initially reported at 6:48 pm, affecting 771 properties. Currently, 262 properties are still without power, and UK Power Networks has warned residents to expect intermittent power as they work to restore full service. The estimated time for power restoration in this area is between 9:30 and 10:30 pm.
