Emily Fennell, known as Miss Emily, has been nominated for her second Juno Award for Blues Album of the Year. Her album, 'The Medicine', showcases a unique blend of new and old compositions, reflecting her authentic and consistent artistic vision.
In an interview with Quinte News, Fennell expressed her enthusiasm for the recognition, stating, 'I do care about recognition. It's an essential part of my creative process. Every song I write finds its place on a record, and this album is no exception. It features new material and songs I wrote two decades ago.'
When asked about the musical flow, considering the age gap between some of her compositions, Fennell explained, 'My authenticity remains consistent on and off the stage, on records. This consistency allows me to express my true self, my current life experiences, and the emotions that inspire my music.'
The album's title track, 'The Medicine', addresses the opioid crisis, a somber topic. However, Fennell emphasizes the importance of hope, as the other songs on the album provide a supportive and uplifting context.
The Juno Awards will be held on CBC from March 26th to 29th, where the talented Miss Emily will be competing for her second award. This nomination is a testament to her dedication and artistic excellence, leaving fans eager to see her triumph on the big stage.
