Witching Hour - Descending… Where Time Has Ceased to Exist: Album Review & Analysis (2026)

Witching Hour's latest album, 'Descending… Where Time Has Ceased to Exist', is a disappointing follow-up to their previous work. The band's talent is undeniable, but their songwriting lacks the necessary dynamics and variety to truly stand out. Each song is a compelling individual piece, showcasing heavy metal swagger, epic leads, and thrashy switch-ups. However, when combined, the album feels like a sea of recycled parts and monotonous bloat. The 11-minute closer, '…and Then Came the Flames', is a microcosm of these issues, feeling complete and exciting at first but ultimately cheapening the experience due to its repetitive nature. Witching Hour's talent is there, but they need to invoke a greater variety of techniques, tempos, and textures to truly make their compositions shine. This album leaves the listener wanting more, despite some worthy gems that sparkle when isolated from the collection. Rating: Disappointing. DR: 8. Format Reviewed: 320 kb/s mp3. Label: Dying Victims Productions. Websites: Bandcamp (http://witchinghourthrash.bandcamp.com/) | Facebook (https://facebook.com/pages/Witching-Hour/130038867066311).
